TEACH South Africa welcomes new Ambassadors
by TEACH South AfricaDr Mothomang Diaho, co-founder of TEACH South Africa, delivered the opening address at the 2nd cohort for 2012. At the beginning of February, a total of 20 TEACH Ambassadors will be placed in schools in the Free State for two years, to teach English, maths or science.
Dr Mothomang welcomed 2012 TEACH Ambassadors to the TEACH South Africa programme and informed them this year’s training marked the 4th cohort in training since TEACH South Africa was established four years ago.
On behalf of the TEACH South Africa co-founders, the staff and mentors, Dr Mothomang thanked the new cohort for choosing a profession that would not only change their lives but the lives of the learners into whom they came into contact.
Mr Richard Masemola, co-founder of TEACH South Africa, encouraged the new cohort to take advantage of the extensive two-week training they received in preparation for the challenging task ahead.
He said TEACH Ambassadors taught at under-resourced schools, and he understood that at times it would become frustrating to teach in an environment not conducive to teaching; however, TEACH South Africa was confident that, armed with leadership skills, the new cohort would remain in the programme to ensure that learners received the quality education they so deserved.
Masemola added that, although it might become tempting to leave the programme, he hoped the learners with whom these TEACH Ambassadors engaged would make TEACH Ambassadors believe they were in these schools to make a difference to the lives of learners.
